Renault Triber AMT – Absolute value. Brilliant features.

After years of driving a hatchback, I finally decided to upgrade to a bigger car. But the question ahead of me was huge! Which car should I go for? Should I go for an SUV, a sedan or a 7-seater?

I decided to go the old fashioned way. I first made a wish list of things that I wanted in my car and then started putting names against cars that satisfied those wishes. Of all the points jotted down by me, the one that said ‘need space for atleast 6 people’ topped the list since my parents also stay with me.

I finalized two 7-seaters from which I was determined to choose the one that offered me the best value. Since a close friend of mine already owns a Renault Triber AMT and I have travelled many times with him, I was a bit biased towards the Triber. To give it a fair shot, I test drove the other 7-seater first and then went for the test drive of the Renault Triber AMT with my wife.

Her first reaction on seeing the Triber was, “Are you sure this is a 7-seater?”

“Don’t worry. Have a look inside first” I encouraged her to step in.

Since she also drives quite frequently, I suggested that she take the test drive first. Since we were not used to the AMT, she was a bit hesitant for the first ten minutes of the test drive, but then soon took the car as the fish takes to water.

Once back to the showroom, the representative elaborated the car features to us. First, he explained the smart features and interiors of the car. My wife was already impressed with the AMT version, the dashboard mountings and the steering mounted controls feature of the Triber. Now was her turn to know the other key features.

Within seconds the representative removed the last row and neatly folded those seats to make the boot extra-large while also turning the car into a 5-seater which left my wife in awe. She decided to try it out herself and soon find it to be child’s play. The modularity of the car made things very easy for us to balance out the space for passengers and luggage.

Then he detailed the safety features of the Triber. This included 4-airbags, a reverse-view camera, front parking sensors and a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP.

“Does this make the Renault Triber AMT India’s safest 7-seater then?” she asked the representative to which he replied in an affirmative.

She finally turned to me and said “Rajeev, this Renault Triber AMT is the best car that suits our requirements. But how much will it cost? This must be pretty expensive right?” there was a concern in her voice.

“Why don’t you ask the sales representative?” I replied to her though I knew the answer.

“The Renault Triber AMT starts at just Rs. 5.69 lakh* (Ex. Showroom Delhi) ma’am”, the representative replied.

“What!” My wife was overjoyed when she heard that. “Rajeev, let’s go for it. We cannot find a better 7-seater than the Renault Triber” she was ecstatic.

“That’s not all ma’am, since we are celebrating the 1 lakh sales milestone for Triber, there are two special dual tones added – Cedar Brown and Moonlight Silver, paired with mystery black roof. Which one would you like to go for?” the sales representative asked her. We finally settled on the Cedar Brown with mystery black roof Renault Triber AMT.

On our way back, my wife said something to me which now got me worried.

She said “Rajeev, I felt tired driving the manual sedan of ours. Now on our next family trips, I will drive the car throughout.”

This meant that my chances of driving our new Renault Triber AMT on highways had vanished in thin air, forever!
