Renault Kiger: A Reward for Our Achievements
It has been slightly more than 1.5 years since my friend Shekhar and I started our venture. Recently we both gifted ourselves a Renault Kiger each.
We worked with a large IT company that specialised in providing IT solutions to large corporations. Things were going well until the lockdown began. We received our salaries for the first two months, but on the first day of the third month, we received pink slips. There were 6 of us who were asked to leave. While the other 4 began their job search, Shekhar and I decided to start something of our own. We decided to form our consultancy company and approached start-ups.
The first month was tough, but finally, we made one breakthrough. Shekhar and I slogged hard to make sure that we gave our maiden client a world-class solution. With increasing business, we eventually reached out to the other 4 colleagues who were laid off along with us and asked them to join us. Within just six months of starting, our revenues had trebled, and our team size had grown by 5X.
Recently we were called for a meeting with one of our new clients. By the time the meeting got over, it was well past midnight. At this hour, we were unable to find a ride back. Seeing our predicament, the CEO of our client company offered us a lift in his Renault Kiger.
We had heard a lot about the Kiger and were impressed with it, but knew that we couldn’t afford it. While Shekhar got into the rear seat, I took the co-passenger’s seat.
Shekhar and I were busy admiring the comfortable ride of the Renault Kiger. I was especially impressed with the smart interiors that housed wireless smartphone replication, LED instrument cluster, keyless entry/exit, and the ergonomic seats. Sitting behind, Shekhar texted me that he was impressed with the huge legroom on the rear seat! Seeing our visible interest in Renault Kiger, the CEO started explaining about the car!
Finally, when it was Shekhar’s turn to get down, he couldn’t hold back his excitement and asked the CEO a question “Sir, if you don’t mind me asking, what is the price of Renault Kiger?”
We thought the CEO would take offence, but he eagerly replied “Renault Kiger starts at just Rs. 5.84 lakh* (Ex. Showroom Delhi) and the best part is that the Kiger’s HR10 petrol engine delivers a mileage of 20.53 KMPL plus it has a maintenance cost of just 40 paise per km!”
The last bit of information sounded like music to our ears! The next day, we both arranged for a test drive and after driving the car to our heart's content, we booked a Renault Kiger for ourselves!
A couple of days later, we reached for a review meeting with the same client and he saw us get out of Shekhar’s Kiger.
He came close to us and said “I knew you guys would buy Renault Kiger. I was impressed in the same way with it when I met my investor. He too had explained to me about his Renault Kiger one day when we were driving back home from his office. I see a lot of similarities between us.!”
Shekhar and I saw each other, smiled, and then gave a look at the Renault Kiger standing proudly in the parking lot!
