Renault Kiger Design: the Perfect SUV at a Perfect Price

Almost all cars try to have a single, coherent design philosophy. But if I had to pick a grand winner, I would have to hand it to the Renault Kiger design.

Most compact SUVs lack an oomph in one area or another, but not the Renault Kiger. The best way to experience the perfection of its stance is to observe the car from a slight distance. You will immediately notice the stunning yet muscular SUV stance that speaks oodles about the thought that the Renault Kiger design team has put in.

Let’s start with the dual tone. The Renault Kiger gets the merging of multiple colours just right, whether it is red, blue, silver, white or brown and its harmony with the mystery black roof. The 40.64 cm diamond cut alloys and the rear skid plate blend seamlessly into the overall design sensibility.

The contouring of the body tells quite a story. The stylish lines along the rear of the car perfectly accentuates the c-shaped signature LED tail lamps. The ridge detailing on the bonnet adds to the dominant musculature of the car, and it ends quite confidently in the chrome front grille.

A surprising but ultimately appropriate merging of muscle design philosophies is the tri-octa pure vision LED headlamps with LED DRLs. They help the Renault Kiger design score a perfect 10!

No design is good design if the inside doesn’t continue the impression of the outside. And this is where the Renault Kiger shines compared to the competition. There is a very apparent direction being taken when it comes to the smart cabin – comfortably futuristic. The first thing that greets you when you enter the cabin is the huge, but artfully placed 20.32 cm display link floating touchscreen with wireless smartphone replication. The futuristic feel is suitably amplified by the liquid chrome upper panel strip and the chrome knob on the centre and side AC vents.

Then, as you sink into the plush driver’s seat, you notice the multi-skin 17.78 cm reconfigurable TFT cluster behind the wheel. Both digital displays are placed strategically, and add to each other’s presence, along with the wireless charger and the rotary command on the centre console for the multi-sense drive modes.

The ‘smart tech’ focus of the Renault Kiger design is to be seen in other aspects as well, like the push start/stop, smart access card, and auto AC with a PM2.5 clean air filter.

A testament to the thought put into the Renault Kiger design is the abundance of space. A glove box with 14.9L and a high centre console storage of 7.5L are built into the overall 29L cabin storage space. This is apart from the 405L cargo space that can be enhanced to 879L by folding the rear seats.

Often, when carmakers focus on design, other aspects take a hit. Not so here. The 1.0L turbo petrol engine is extremely powerful and responsive, and is mated to three types of transmission – manual, easy-R AMT and the fully automatic x-tronic CVT. Moreover, it is clear that Renault is aware of the Indian consumer’s mindset, proved by the fact that the fuel efficiency of the Renault Kiger HR10 petrol engine is 20.53 km/L.

Safety too hasn’t been sacrificed to make way for the Renault Kiger design. The car comes with 4 airbags, ABS & EBD, as well as a rear-view camera and front parking sensors. All of this, available at an astonishingly affordable price of just Rs 5.79 lakh* (ex-showroom, Delhi).

No wonder, the Renault Kiger design is truly performance, power and comfort redefined.
