6 automatic cars in India that make driving less stressful

Sometime back, a survey was conducted in the city of Bangalore to know the level of traffic-related stress. The survey highlighted that 63% of the respondents rated traffic congestions as their biggest bugbear! This was followed by ‘looking for parking space’ at 56% and ‘fear of meeting with an accident’ at 45%.

Traffic-related stress was a reality in most urban areas and it was silently taking a toll. Worldwide, most car makers realized this and were attempting to find a solution to the biggest problem of them all – making driving comfortable.

One of the prominent solutions that emerged was in the form of automatic cars. An automatic car does not require gear shifts and hence does not have the clutch pedal. The driver need not use his left set of limbs at all while driving. This effectively meant that the physical effort could be reduced by half!

Soon, India also joined the bandwagon and automatic cars in India made their presence felt. The refinements in technology have today made these cars very easy to own and no different in maintenance than your regular manual transmission car.

Here are some of the most popular automatic cars in India.

Renault Kwid

The Renault Kwid AMT has broken the stereotype and proved to be one of the most impressive automatic cars in India that score in both, looks and performance. With a starting price of just Rs. 3.32 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi), the Kwid does its bit effectively in helping to reduce driving-related stress.

If there is one car that has redefined the benchmark in the hottest car category of them all, the SUVs, then it has to be the Renault Kiger. Sporty in appeal, smart in design and stunning on the inside as well as outside is what describes the Kiger. Again, arguably one of the most in-demand automatic cars in India, the Kiger has raised the standard for other cars in the SUV and automatic category.

Renault Triber

The Triber has put to rest a lot of issues that came with a conventional 7-seater. Traditionally, a 7-seater brought in a lot of advantages, but it also came with a huge drawback of its long length. With its sub-4-metre length, the Triber cancelled this big disadvantage without compromising on the interior space and comfort. Infact, it raised the bar higher for 7-seater cars in India with its modular seating arrangement. And after all these feats, it also introduced an automatic version making the car highly desirable in the family category. But the real deal was its value for money price. With a starting price of Rs. 5.50 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi), the car became an instant hit the moment it was launched.

Renault Duster

No one ever thought that an SUV could also be an urban car, but the Duster changed that. Then when the customer preference for automatic cars in India started picking up, no one thought that even SUVs could be made automatic, but Duster changed that too! With a host of first to its name, the Duster is one of the most preferred SUVs in India that still draws attention when it passes by on the road. With a starting price of Rs. 9.86 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi), the Duster is one of the top automatic cars in India in its category.

City

If we talk about sedans, then the list is incomplete without the City. Now in its 5th generation, the City has been a choice of sedan lovers for quite some time. With a price tag starting at Rs. 11.16 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi), the City is also one of the best automatic cars in India in the sedan category.

While all these automatic cars in India also come in manual versions, the customer preferences are slowly shifting away from manual to automatic. After all, the AMTs score big over their manual forerunners when it comes to the level of physical effort and driving quality.

The truth is that automatic cars in India have arrived and they are here to stay!
